Our story
Hi, I'm Bianca Haslam — wildlife carer, educator, artist and founder of Wild & Kind Collective.
I grew up in the beautiful beachside town of Kingscliff, always surrounded by nature and with a love for drawing, painting and Australia's unique wildlife. As a primary school teacher of 15 years, creativity and nurturing others have always been a big part of who I am.
My husband Steve and I later made the move to Tenterfield, where we renovated a historic building into luxury accommodation and embraced a life more closely connected to nature. It was here, surrounded by the Australian bush and the wildlife that call it home, that my passion for conservation truly flourished.
Today, I am a wildlife carer of 7 years and a Director of Quoll Headquarters, a conservation organisation dedicated to protecting native species and preserving our natural environment. Through my wildlife rescue work, I saw first-hand one of the biggest challenges facing carers — keeping vulnerable animals warm, safe and comfortable during transport and rehabilitation.
Many orphaned, injured and sick native animals rely on warmth to survive. Wanting to create a practical solution, I developed the Wild & Kind Wildlife Rescue Kit — a portable rescue and rehabilitation unit designed to provide safe, consistent warmth both in the car and at home, helping wildlife carers give animals the very best chance of recovery.
Alongside my love for wildlife has always been a love for art. Watercolour painting became my way of celebrating the incredible animals I work so hard to protect. What began as a creative outlet soon evolved into the Wild & Kind sleepwear collection, with every design starting as one of my original hand-painted artworks inspired by Australia's native species.
Wild & Kind Collective brings together everything I love — wildlife, conservation, creativity and purpose. Whether it's a wildlife rescue kit helping save a vulnerable animal or a piece of sleepwear inspired by the beauty of our native species, every product is created with heart and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
When I'm not rescuing wildlife, painting, or working on conservation projects, you'll usually find me spending time with Steve and our little Italian Greyhound, Sprocket.
